Resistance to change

You may feel emotional resistance to any affirmation when you first use it, especially one that is really powerful for you and is going to make a real change in your consciousness. This is simply our initial resistance to change and growth. If doubts or contradicting thoughts arise, don’t resist them or try to prevent them. This will tend to give them a power they don’t otherwise have. Just let your doubts flow through your consciousness and then return to your positive statements and images.

I accept my resistance and move forward.

Affirmations from the heart

In general, the shorter and simpler the affirmation, the more effective. An affirmation should be a clear statement that conveys a strong feeling. The more feeling it conveys, the stronger the impression it makes on your mind. Affirmations that are long wordy, and theoretical lose their emotional impact. Choose affirmations that come from your heart, not your head.

Finding the right affirmation

Always choose affirmations that feel totally right for you. What works for one person may not work at all for another. An affirmation should feel positive, expansive, freeing, and/or supportive. If it doesn’t, find another one or try changing the words until it feels right. A powerful, effective affirmation may bring up some resistance from the part of you that fears change, but that will dissolve as you work with it. Choose affirmations that feel supportive, freeing, and expansive.

To affirm means to make firm

An affirmation is a strong, positive statement that something is already so. It is a way of making firm that which you are imagining. While you are using affirmations, try to temporarily suspend any doubts or disbelief you may have, at least for the moment. Practice getting the feeling that that which you desire is very real and possible.

Visualizing your goal

Bring your idea or mental picture to mind often, both in quiet meditation periods and also casually throughout the day when you happen to think about it. This way it becomes an integrated part of your life. It becomes more a reality for you and you project it more successfully. Focus on it clearly, yet in a light and gentle way. It is important not to feel like you are working too hard for it, or putting excessive amounts of energy into it. That would hinder rather than help.

I focus on my goals in a gentle, relaxed way.

A basic creative visualization exercise

Think of something you desire to have, to do, or to experience. For this exercise, pick something simple and fairly realistic for you.

Sit or lie down in a comfortable position. Take a few long, slow, deep breaths and relax your body and mind. Now imagine yourself doing, having, or experiencing whatever it is that you want. Imagine it as if it is already happening, as if it is true, now. You might see a mental picture of it, or just get a feeling or a sense of what it would be like for you if this wish came true. Let yourself enjoy the experience.

When you feel complete, open your eyes. Know that in visualizing or imagining your goal as if it were already true, you have opened the door to creating it. Repeat this exercise whenever you want to.

This or something better is now coming true.

Relax deeply
It is important to relax deeply when we are first learning to use creative visualization. When our minds and bodies are deeply relaxed and centered, our brain waves change and become slower. As we are able to silence our habitual mind chatter, we have a chance to listen on a deeper level. We become receptive and open to our creative imagination and intuition.

The use of creative visualization gives us a key to tap into the natural goodness and bounty of life. Imagination is the ability to create an idea or mental picture in your mind. In creative visualization you use your imagination to create a clear image, sense, or feeling of something you wish to manifest.

It is a positive influence for issues concerning management, organization, and business – a day for decisive action. Everything is energy

Everything in the physical world is made of energy, all vibrating at different rates of speed. Thought is a relatively fine, light form of energy and is quick and easy to change. Matter is relatively dense and compact energy, slower to move and change. All these energy fields are interconnected, so how we think and feel is constantly affecting and being affected by everything around us. We are all part of one great energy system.

We receive the support we need

If we are honest with ourselves, we will readily admit that we are not making great music on the guidance of our rational mind alone. By tuning into our intuition and allowing it to become the guiding force in our lives, we allow the conductor to take his rightful place as leader of the orchestra. Rather than losing our individual freedom, we receive the support we need to express our individuality.

Each of us plays a unique instrument

We each play a unique instrument in the orchestra of life. If we play our part without regard for the conductor´s direction or the rest of the orchestra, then we have total chaos, If we try to take our cues only from those around us, it will be impossible to achieve harmony. However, if we watch the conductor (our intuition) and follow it´s direction, we can experience the joy of playing our unique part, and at the same time experience ourselves as part of a greater harmonious whole.

Don´t push yourself

You can´t always force yourself to follow your intuitive feelings. Sometimes it simply feels too difficult or scary. Don´t push past what you are ready to do. Simply observe the process and be honest with yourself about how it feels and what happens. If you love and accept yourself exactly as you are, change will happen naturally and spontaneously.
