Take a moment to appreciate the patterns you’ve developed over the years. They served as your best strategies for coping with life, given your experiences and background. It’s important to recognize their value, regardless of how negative they may seem now; they have played a crucial role in your survival and self-care.

 

Reflect on what these patterns have provided you—how they have supported you and what they protected you from. As you grow and become more aware, you may start to feel that these patterns are limiting and uncomfortable. As you begin the process of letting them go and as you transform them into healthier ways of living, remember to thank them. They are like old friends who have helped you reach this point in your life.
