Giving consciously

At this point, we may realize that it doesn’t work to try to take care of ourselves by taking care of others. I’m the only one who can actually take good care of me, so I might as well do it directly and allow others to do the same thing for themselves. This doesn’t mean we can’t care for and give to others; it means that we make a conscious choice to give or not, based on what we truly feel rather than out of fear or obligation. In fact, the better we take care of ourselves, the more we have to give.

When I take care of myself, I have more to give.
