Physical exercise

No matter what type of physical exercise you do, you can use creative visualization and affirmation to help you get maximum benefit and enjoyment from it.
For example, if you like to run, picture yourself running very swiftly, smoothly, and tirelessly. If you dance or do yoga, put your awareness in your body, in your muscles; picture them relaxing and stretching; see yourself becoming more and more accomplished until you are truly excelling.

I love exercising my body. I am strong, limber, and physically fit.

Eating ritual

Sit down with your food in front of you. Close your eyes, relax, and take a deep breath. Silently thank the universe for this food and thank all the beings who helped provide it, including the plants and animals, the people who grew it and prepared it for you.
Open your eyes and look at the food; really observe how it looks and smells. Slowly begin to eat, thoroughly enjoying the taste. Tell yourself that this food is being transformed into life energy for your use. Picture yourself becoming healthier and more beautiful as a result of eating this food.
Take a moment after you finish to enjoy the pleasant, warm glow that emanates from your stomach when it is satisfied and happy.

Beauty treatments

Do things for yourself regularly that make you feel you are taking special care of yourself and doing nice things for your body.
Take a hot bath or shower and visualize the hot water totally relaxing, soothing, and healing you. Picture any problems melting or being washed away, and nothing remaining but your natural radiance shining from within.
Put lotion on your face and body, giving yourself lots of loving attention, affirming that your skin is becoming smoother and more beautiful all the time.

I regularly do nice things for my body.

Thank your body

Lie down in a comfortable position and close your eyes. Imagine there is healing energy coming through your hands, and put your hands on whatever part of your body seems to want your attention. Send healing and love to that area. Then move your hands to another area. Find a way to appreciate every part of yourself and thank your body for being with you for all these years, following your desires and serving you. If you like, you can play music that you love and use candles or flowers while performing this ritual.

Time to let go

When you have identified beliefs about your body that no longer serve you, it’s time to let go of them. Realize they have served you for years. Thank them for the service they have provided and let them know you are willing to let go of them. Feel the release and freedom of being who you are now.

As I let go of the old way, a new way is shown to me.

Origin of beliefs

Examine your present beliefs about your body. Try to remember where you first learned some of them. Did you pick them up from a parent, sibling, teacher, or a friend? Don’t struggle to establish the origin of all your beliefs. Simply look at the ones that affect you most deeply, and observe the connections and memories that surface. Feel the feelings associated with these memories and consciously let them go.
It is an act of courage and self-love to look at the origins of your beliefs, to consciously feel and release them. The end result is a new sense of freedom and lightness.

Beliefs about our bodies

Most of us have negative beliefs about our bodies and/or the foods we eat. It is important to examine these beliefs and become more conscious of what we tell ourselves. Write down all your beliefs about food and/or your body. Write down anything that comes to you, even if it doesn’t make sense or seem connected. Keep writing, the more the better. In making these beliefs more tangible, we are taking a most important step in our healing.

Trust your body

Having a beautiful body starts with following the natural flow of your energy. We have been taught to distrust our bodies and see them as needing to be controlled. Trust yourself. Sleep as much as you want. Stay in bed if you need more rest. Express yourself physically in ways that feel good. Eat what your body desires and follow your heart. If you are willing to trust your body, you’ll learn what’s best for you.

By looking at our bodies, listening to them, and feeling them, we can read a great deal about our spiritual, mental, and emotional energy patterns. The body is our primary feedback mechanism that can show us what is and isn’t working about our way of thinking, expressing, and living.

Everything is a gift that brings me to self-awareness — after all, I’m here to learn. If I was already perfect, I wouldn’t be here. Why should I get angry at myself when I see things I’ve been unconscious of? It would be like a first grader getting frustrated because she wasn’t in college yet. I try to maintain a compassionate attitude toward myself and my learning process. To the extent that I can do this, the learning process becomes fun and really quite interesting. I’m here to learn.
